Nutrition
Clinical dietitians educate patients on what they should eat to best benefit their overall wellness.
What we consume plays a large role in our overall health. Some patients may be referred out to a dietitian to treat a health condition, eating disorder, or just to improve their overall wellness.
Common Reasons Patients See Nutritionists:
- Managing Chronic Conditions (Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, etc.)
- Pre/Post Gastric Bypass Surgery
- Experiencing Digestive Issues
- Pregnancy or Trying to Conceive
- Eating Disorders
- Need to Gain or Lose Weight
- Enhance Athletic Performance
- Wanting to Improve Health
Your clinical dietitian will perform a thorough nutrition assessment to gain a better understanding of your condition or dietary needs.
Some elements of this assessment may include:
- What foods you are currently eating
- How the foods you eat are affects your symptoms
- Foods you have already eliminated
- Vitamin and mineral intake
- Medications you are currently taking
- Religious dietary restrictions
- Food preferences and cooking habits
Your dietitian will create the best food plan to keep you healthy, while also accommodating your lifestyle. You should expect to have a few follow up appointments to evaluate your nutrition levels and make adjustments to your food plan.
