Nephrology
Nephrologists are specially trained to treat kidney diseases, kidney transplants, and provide dialysis therapy.
Most people have two kidneys that are located near the lower back, but many people survive with just one kidney. The kidneys are responsible for moving waste products and excess fluids from the bloodstream. This waste is discharged as urine.
You May Be Referred to a Nephrologists if you Have:
- Kidney stones
- Renal Disease
- Kidney Disease
- Kidney Failure
- Electrolyte Disorders
Systematic disorders (conditions or illnesses that affect more than one part of the body) are responsible for many conditions that affect the kidneys. A significant number of patients with diabetes also have kidney issues. When patients have systemic disorders, they may require medical care from other specialists as well.
